2024 Disneyland Recap

On the morning of Friday, October 18th, orchestra students got on buses bright and early to embark on their annual trip to Disneyland! During this trip, they participated in the Disney Soundtrack Workshop, which gave them the opportunity to be recorded by a professional sound engineer as they played Disney movie soundtracks while being conducted by a renowned musician. This time, orchestra students sight read scores from Up, Tangled, A Bug’s Life, Marvel, and the iconic Disney movie intro. By giving the orchestra students these pieces, the Disney Soundtrack Workshop was not only educational, but also provided insight into the recording processes of the professional world. In the recording industry, musicians have their playing recorded after only a few run-throughs, which is exactly what the orchestra students experienced.

Although the soundtrack session was the main event of the day, that didn’t stop everyone from also having a blast at the main theme park! From dawn to dusk, the orchestra students ventured through the “happiest place on Earth,” a trip that no one should dare to miss. The whole day was filled with screaming on roller coasters, eating Dole Whip, and ultimately, spending time with friends.

After returning to school at 12 AM, the orchestra students went home with Disney merchandise, unforgettable memories, and stronger friendships. Everyone can’t wait for next year’s Disneyland trip, where they will make even more memories filled with music and happiness.
