2024 Big/Little Halloween Social & Grade Level Socials

Big/Little Halloween Social

On October 24th, orchestra’s second Big/Little Social commenced! Upon entering the lunch social, Bigs and Littles were treated to free chips and home-baked goods and had the chance to reconnect with each other. After a quick icebreaker, Bigs and Littles played Halloween Wavelength, where they individually rated the favorability of a Halloween themed image on the screen, hoping to match each other’s ratings. Amazingly, some Big/Little pairings were synced up perfectly! Others, not so much… but that didn’t stop them from having fun and syncing up in the next activity: Halloween Blindfolded Drawing! Bigs described an image to their little, who had to draw solely based on their Big’s instructions. Similar to Halloween Wavelength, this was a test of teamwork between the Big Little pairings. Even if the drawings didn’t turn out quite right, everyone either celebrated their victory or laughed at their deformed image. Thus, the Big/Little social concluded with each pairing having had a blast and reinforcing the bond they share with each other.

Grade Level Socials

During lunch from October 21st through 25th, orchestra students participated in the first Grade Level Socials, which were filled with bonding activities and free food!

After an icebreaker, a trivia competition commenced. Multiple teams competed against each other for the most correct answers possible, with everyone unleashing their inner academic weapon. The last game was Survivor, in which teams were given random objects, such as Lunchly, glitter, Play Doh, etc. Their mission was to create a viable survival plan with their given objects. Although most plans were creative with their antics, there could only be one winner per social. After some heated debates and free cookies, the social would conclude for the day, ready for the next day’s Grade Level Social.

Survivor!

Overall, the Grade Level Social was a success! It encouraged many students to meet and bond with students from other orchestras, whom they otherwise wouldn’t have interacted with. Plus, there was free food! If you missed the Grade Level Socials, they will return within the next few months—stay tuned!
